Mr. HEINRICH submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 2, to provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of S. Con. Res. 33.; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title I, insert the following: SEC. __. APPROPRIATION FOR PUBLIC HEALTH SCREENINGS OF ASYLUM SEEKERS. (a) In General.--In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated to the Secretary of Homeland Security for fiscal year 2026, out of amounts in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $200,000,000 to remain available until September 30, 2029, for the Office of Health Security of the Department of Homeland Security to hire and deploy additional public health professionals to screen asylum seekers for infectious diseases, including measles and hantavirus, and to provide vaccinations and treatment when necessary. (b) Reduction in Funds.--Notwithstanding section 102, the amount appropriated under that section shall be $7,250,000,000. ______
