U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) joins President Trump in the Oval Office on Thursday, June 4, for the coal investment announcement by the White House. Lexington, KY - This week, U.S. Congressman Andy Barr (R-KY-06) attended President Trump's Oval Office event announcing a historic investment in Clean, Beautiful Coal. President Trump infused nearly $1 billion in federal funds into coal projects across the nation, including $124 million right here in Kentucky. The two recipients in Kentucky are Eastern Kentucky Power Cooperative (EKPC) and Duke Energy Kentucky. These funds will go to upgrade and modernize coal-fired power plants in Boone, Lawrence, and Pulaski Counties. These plants have kept the lights on in hundreds of thousands of Kentucky homes for years, and this funding will help ensure they can continue doing so for many years to come.
