JOHN GARAMENDI of california in the house of representatives Thursday, October 1, 2026 Mr. GARAMENDI. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the contributions of Chris Mathias as she is honored as one of California's 8th Congressional District's Women of the Year. Chris, who founded the Indivisible group in El Sobrante, has been an incredible leader and advocate within her community. Through her tireless efforts, she has built a vibrant and engaged community in West County, bringing people together around a shared commitment to civic participation and strengthening democracy. Through organizing community events, demonstrations, and meetings, she has guided the community with her leadership, passion, and commitment. Her desire to better our Nation and support the well-being of all communities serves as a steadfast example for those who follow. She has also continually supported marginalized populations, advocating for their voices while working closely with national, state, and local Indivisible groups. She has fostered collaboration and created meaningful connections among organizations and community members. Her dedication to the strengthening of the Contra Costa community has made a meaningful difference in the lives of many residents. On behalf of the people of California's 8th Congressional District, it is my pleasure to honor and recognize Chris Mathias for her positive contributions to our community. ____________________
