Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 149 (Monday, September 21, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 149 (Monday, September 21, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Page E959] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING THE LIFE OF ORVILLE LEE HUTCHINS ______ HON. BRIAN K. FITZPATRICK of pennsylvania in the house of representatives Monday, September 21, 2026 Mr. FITZPATRICK. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor an outstanding member of Pennsylvania's 1st Congressional District, Orville Lee Hutchins, and to recognize a life defined by service, sacrifice, family, and devotion to his community and country. Orville's life of service to our Nation began in 1944, when he entered the United States military. He served for more than two decades, retiring in 1965 with the rank of E-7, Sergeant. During his distinguished military career, Orville served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, including combat service on the Philippine island of Luzon. In 1945, he was part of the occupying forces in Japan. In 1949, he was transferred to France, where he met Genevieve, who would become his wife. Orville later deployed to Okinawa on several occasions with his guided missile battalion. When the war ended, the 27th Regiment was part of the occupying forces in Japan where he was stationed from 1945 to 1946. While there, Mr. Hutchins came upon an orphanage which was being continuously looted by locals. He immediately provided armed security, food, and blankets for the children. This was the beginning of the 27th Regiment's now- continuous support of the Holy Family Orphanage to this day. Orville was married to his beloved wife, Genevieve Hutchins, for 64 years. Together, they raised their two sons, Cliff and Stephen Hutchins. Stephen proudly served for 21 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a colonel. For the past 37 years, Orville has called Bucks County home and currently resides in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. On behalf of the United States House of Representatives and the people of Pennsylvania's 1st District, in recognition of his 100th birthday, I extend our congratulations to Orville, his family, friends, and all who love him. And may God bless Orville Lee Hutchins with happiness and good health for many years to come. ____________________
