HONORING LATAVIA STURDIVANT

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 114 (Tuesday, July 14, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 114 (Tuesday, July 14, 2026)] [House] [Pages H4424-H4425] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING LATAVIA STURDIVANT (Mr. LATIMER asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. LATIMER. Mr. Speaker, I rise to honor Latavia Sturdivant, a disability advocate, Yonkers resident, New York City Schools educator, author, Lehman College professor, and now Ms. Wheelchair America 2026. Ms. Wheelchair America was established on the principle of giving a platform to women who use wheelchairs, showing that they are more than their disability. The pageant crowns their winner based on advocacy, leadership, and achievements. This title could not reflect Ms. Sturdivant more. Her passion and accomplishments are noted and rooted in resilience, service, and passion for breaking barriers for wheelchair users. Her motto: ``Don't pay attention to what we roll in, pay attention to how we roll'' speaks to her will to be a voice in the community. Mr. Speaker, she is an inspiration to all of us, and from the floor of the House of Representatives, I extend my congratulations to Latavia on this remarkable accomplishment.
