REPS. CARLOS A. GIMÉNEZ, DONALD NORCROSS INTRODUCE BIPARTISAN BILL TO INCREASE TRANSPARENCY FOR ONLINE SHOPPERS

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representatives Carlos A. Gim nez (FL-28) and Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) introduced the bipartisan Country of Origin Labeling (COOL) Online Act, legislation requiring online sellers to clearly disclose a product's country of origin and the seller's principal place of business. Currently, many products sold in stores must disclose their country of origin, but those requirements are not consistently applied to online sales. The COOL Online Act closes this loophole by ensuring consumers have access to the same information when shopping online. "American consumers have a right to know where the products they purchase are made, whether they shop online or in person," said Congressman Carlos A. Gim nez . "The COOL Online Act modernizes consumer protection laws by increasing transparency and ensuring shoppers have the information they need before making a purchase. I am proud to work in a bipartisan manner to protect consumers, promote accountability, and support American businesses." "Every American deserves to know where the products they're buying are coming from, whether it's at a brick-and-mortar store or an online shop, " said Congressman Donald Norcross . " Closing this loophole will provide greater transparency for consumers while supporting American manufacturers and workers." Read the full bill HERE . ###
