END HUNGER NOW

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 94 (Wednesday, June 3, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 94 (Wednesday, June 3, 2026)] [House] [Page H3782] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] END HUNGER NOW (Mr. McGOVERN asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. McGOVERN. Madam Speaker, last week, I joined my colleague Congressman Bill Keating in New Bedford, Massachusetts, for the eighth stop on my End Hunger Now Massachusetts tour. We started the day at the PACE Community Food Center, an incredible model of a food pantry, where clients can choose their own groceries and get advice from nutritionists on staff. There is dignity in food choice, even when you are poor--especially when you are poor. We then toured the new culinary center of the New Bedford Public Schools. It is a modern, state-of-the-art kitchen, where healthy and tasty school meals are prepared daily for more than 13,000 students in and around the city. I thank everyone who joined us on our visits, including PACE Executive Director Pam Kuechler, Jennifer Ferland and Cathy Henriques from the culinary center, New Bedford School Superintendent Andrew O'Leary, New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell, and Eos Foundation President Andrea Silbert, among others. Madam Speaker, what I saw in New Bedford is a shining example of what dedicated people working together can do to thoughtfully, yet boldly, end hunger now. ____________________
