Ms. KAPTUR. Mr. Speaker, reckless changes to the Affordable Care Act by this administration already have ripped away affordable healthcare coverage for 2 million Americans. Skyrocketing premiums mean healthcare costs too much. Hardworking families simply cannot absorb higher monthly premium costs. My home State of Ohio has been hit the hardest. Almost one-third of marketplace enrollees, 161,385 Ohioans, have dropped their coverage within the last year. That is three times the national average. When hardworking Americans are forced to choose between groceries and healthcare, guess what, Mr. Speaker. They choose food. Between the cuts included in the big bonanza bill for billionaires and its refusal to extend the enhanced premium tax credits, it is clear the GOP's majority is intent on worsening this health insurance crisis for our relatives and neighbors. Before this administration came into office last year, the number of uninsured Americans was at an all-time low. Now, seniors are struggling to afford prescriptions, parents are skipping doctor visits, and millions have lost healthcare altogether. Mr. Speaker, Ohioans work hard and so do all Americans. They deserve peace of mind and affordable healthcare. ____________________
