We're Open to Help You We're Open to Help You I made a commitment to help you, whether or not the federal government is open. joswald Tue, 10/01/2013 - 00:51 U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that despite the shutdown of the federal government, her offices will remain open. “With the government closed down, constituents will rely on us more than ever, and my staff and I will continue to be there for them during what will likely be a challenging time for our community and country,” said Meng. “When I was elected earlier this year, I made a commitment to assist the people I represent, and I will not break that commitment now just because the government is shut.“ The Congresswoman’s offices in Flushing and Forest Hills, Queens, as well as in Washington, D.C., will continue to operate as normal, and local residents who encounter difficulties in accessing federal government services are encouraged to call or stop by. These include everything from the Veterans Admission, Social Security and immigration services to Medicare, the Small Business Administration and the new health insurance law, just to name a few. Meng also reminds local residents that even though the government is shutdown, the new health insurance exchanges in New York and across the country will still open today as scheduled. Constituents can go to www.HealthCare.gov or call 800-318-2596 to begin shopping for coverage. The addresses and phone numbers for Meng’s offices are: ·32-26 Union Street, Suite 1B Flushing, New York 11354 718-445-7860 ·118-35 Queens Boulevard, Suite 1610 Forest Hills, New York 11375 718-445-7861 To read Meng’s statement on the government shutdown, click here .
