Mr. CORNYN submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 4784, to authorize appropriations for fiscal year 2027 for military activities of the Department of Defense, for military construction, and for defense activities of the Department of Energy, to prescribe military personnel strengths for such fiscal year, and for other purposes; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title V, insert the following: SEC. 5__. LIMITATION ON PROVISION OF FUNDS TO ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS HOSTING CONFUCIUS INSTITUTES AND CLASSROOMS. (a) Limitation.--None of the funds authorized to be appropriated or otherwise made available for any fiscal year for the Department of Defense may be provided to an elementary school or secondary school that hosts a Confucius Institute or Classroom, other than amounts provided directly to students as educational assistance. (b) Effective Date.--The limitation under subsection (a) shall apply with respect to the first fiscal year that begins after the date that is 12 months after the date of the enactment of this Act and to any subsequent fiscal year. (c) Definitions.--In this section: (1) Confucius institute or classroom.--The term ``Confucius Institute or Classroom'' means a cultural institute or educational partnership directly or indirectly funded by the Government of the People's Republic of China. (2) Elementary school; secondary school.--The terms ``elementary school'' and ``secondary school'' have the meanings given those terms in section 8101 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (20 U.S.C. 7801). ______
