HONORING WOMEN OF THE YEAR: YOLANDA MENDOZA Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 157 (Monday, October 5, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 157 (Monday, October 5, 2026)] [Extensions of Remarks] [Page E1023] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING WOMEN OF THE YEAR: YOLANDA MENDOZA ______ HON. JOHN GARAMENDI of california in the house of representatives Monday, October 5, 2026 Mr. GARAMENDI. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize the contributions of Yolanda Mendoza as she is honored as one of California's 8th Congressional District's Women of the Year. As a member of the local Latina Center, she has dedicated her time to empowering women, supporting families, and supporting our community. Meaningful change does not happen overnight, it happens after years of hard work and dedication. For the past 13 years, Yolanda has shown up for her community with compassion and care for those around her, and she didn't give up until she created real change. She has been a problem solver for those she serves, committed to connecting people with resources, navigating their challenges, and building trust with local families in Richmond, Antioch, Roseville, and Bay Point, making a difference for anyone she encounters. Her reach extends far beyond the district, as she's shown up across California, Mexico, South America, and Spain with compassion and a willingness to help. She not only embodies what it means to be a community leader but also sets others up to do the same. Yolanda's commitment to her community reflects the best traits of a leader, as she consistently shows dedication to empowering those around her. On behalf of the people of California's 8th Congressional District, it is my pleasure to honor and recognize Yolanda Mendoza for her positive contributions to our community. ____________________
