Tillis, Budd Applaud Nomination of Two North Carolina Judges

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Ted Budd (R-NC) applauded President Trump's nominations of Brian S. Meyers to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina and Philip L. Aubart to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina. Both nominees were recommended by Senators Tillis and Budd. "Congratulations to Brian S. Meyers and Philip L. Aubart on their nominations to serve as District Court Judges for North Carolina's Eastern and Middle Districts," said Senator Tillis . "Both are highly qualified attorneys who respect the rule of law and are committed to upholding the Constitution. I am confident they will serve the people of North Carolina with integrity and distinction. I thank President Trump for nominating them and look forward to working with Senator Budd to advance their nominations and secure their confirmation by the full Senate." "Identifying highly qualified and strong constitutionalist nominees to serve as federal judges in North Carolina is a responsibility I take very seriously. I am confident that Phil Aubart, nominee for U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina, and Brian Meyers, nominee for U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina, both possess the sound judgment necessary to uphold the U.S. Constitution and laws of the United States, and will serve the people of North Carolina with distinction. Both Phil and Brian have built distinguished and respected legal careers, and I know that they will be exemplary additions to the district courts," said Senator Budd . Background: Brian S. Meyers currently serves as a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Magistrate Judge Meyers previously served as Executive Assistant to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District, where he was the Chief of staff and Counsel to then-United States Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr. Philip L. Aubart currently serves as the First Assistant for the Unites States Attorney in the Eastern District of North Carolina and as the Army Reserve Major for the Judge Advocate General's Corps. Mr. Aubart previously served as Assistant United State Attorney in the Violent Crimes Section, where he was responsible for driving violent crime strategy across the entire district. ###
