CONGRATULATING CHARLIE McAVOY

Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 42 (Thursday, March 5, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 42 (Thursday, March 5, 2026)] [House] [Page H2454] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] CONGRATULATING CHARLIE McAVOY (Ms. GILLEN asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend her remarks.) Ms. GILLEN. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to congratulate Charlie McAvoy, a proud native of Long Beach and New York-4 on representing the United States at the 2026 Winter Olympics and bringing home a gold medal as a member of the men's ice hockey team. Charlie's journey from local rinks to the very top of the Olympic podium is a very powerful testament to his talent, dedication, and discipline. His success stands as a model for aspiring athletes not only across Long Island but across our country. Charlie's story sends a clear and inspiring message: Greatness can grow from our neighborhoods, our schools, and our hometown arenas. With hard work, resilience, and belief in yourself, Mr. Speaker, dreams that begin at home can carry you to the highest stages in the world. On behalf of Long Island, I extend our heartfelt congratulations to Charlie and his family. We thank him for representing our community and our country. May his achievement remain a source of pride for Long Islanders and an inspiration for generations to come. ____________________
