Tillis: Democrats Must End the Shutdown

WASHINGTON, D.C . - Today, Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC) released the following statement on the status of the ongoing government shutdown: "It is impossible to negotiate in good faith when one side holds the entire federal government hostage, and political extortion cannot be the new precedent. Senator Schumer has boxed himself in, and Democrats are finally realizing their decisions have real consequences on real Americans. Their attempts to push for show votes that alleviate the pain for only some groups of Americans are a complete abdication of responsibility. Thirty days of shutting down the entire government is long enough. We only need five Democratic Senators to stop talking about being bipartisan and start acting bipartisan by voting to end this ridiculous shutdown." ###
