Mr. HEINRICH submitted an amendment intended to be proposed by him to the bill S. 2, to provide for reconciliation pursuant to title II of S. Con. Res. 33; which was ordered to lie on the table; as follows: At the appropriate place in title I, insert the following: SEC. 1__. APPROPRIATION FOR BACKLOG REDUCTION AND EXPEDITED PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS BY U.S. CITIZENSHIP AND IMMIGRATION SERVICES. (a) In General.--In addition to amounts otherwise available, there is appropriated for fiscal year 2026, out of amounts in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $1,000,000,000 to the Secretary of Homeland Security, to remain available until September 30, 2029, for backlog reduction and expedited application processing by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. (b) Reduction in Funds.--Notwithstanding section 102, the amount appropriated under that section shall be $6,450,000,000. ______
