HONORING THE LIFE OF COMMISSIONER FRED MCCLURE Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 146 (Wednesday, September 16, 2026)] [House] [Page H5836] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HONORING THE LIFE OF COMMISSIONER FRED MCCLURE (Mr. McDOWELL asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. McDOWELL. Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honor the life of Davidson County Commissioner Fred McClure. Fred lived a life of service. He served our country in the Air Force, the Navy, and the North Carolina National Guard, including two tours in Vietnam. After his time in the Armed Forces, Fred found himself in Welcome, North Carolina. He built a business, raised a family, and continued to serve his community as a member of the Davidson County Commissioners beginning in 1994. He loved Davidson County, and the people of Davidson County trusted him for a reason. Fred had a servant's heart. He was a father, a grandfather, a friend to many, and a man of faith. Rachel and I are praying for his wife, Kay; the entire McClure family; and all those who knew and loved him. Davidson County lost a good man and a true public servant. Mr. Speaker, may God bless Fred McClure and may he rest in peace. ____________________
