Mr. Speaker, I rise today to celebrate a remarkable milestone in the history of American innovation: the 175th anniversary of Corning Incorporated, a company whose ingenuity and resilience have helped shape the modern world from its home in the Southern Tier of New York. Very few companies survive this long, and fewer still can claim a legacy that touches so many lives across the globe. Corning's story, at its core, is one of discovery. For 175 years, the company's boundless curiosity has produced some of the world's most consequential breakthroughs in materials science. Today Corning's patents and trade secrets are crown jewels of American intellectual property: the glass envelope of Thomas Edison's first commercial light bulb, the heat- resistant Pyrex that became a fixture in America's kitchens, the ceramic substrates that have cleaned the air from nearly every passenger vehicle on the road for the past half century, the Gorilla Glass that today protects billions of smartphones and devices worldwide, and the low-loss optical fiber that became the backbone of the internet and now Al infrastructure. It is also a story about the lives Corning touches. The company's innovations are everywhere--powering how Americans work, learn, and live. Behind these achievements stand more than 60,000 Corning employees worldwide including the thousands of dedicated men and women who live and work in New York's 23rd Congressional District. They are the scientists, engineers, technicians, and operators whose talent has made Corning synonymous with excellence in advanced manufacturing. Generations of Southern Tier families have built their lives alongside this company, and Corning has invested in them through good-paying jobs, educational partnerships, and steadfast community support.
