On 2026-09-22, Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) delivered a floor speech titled "RECOGNIZING BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE HIGH SCHOOL'S CENTENNIAL" in the Senate.
RECOGNIZING BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE HIGH SCHOOL'S CENTENNIAL Congressional Record, Volume 172 Issue 150 (Tuesday, September 22, 2026) [Congressional Record Volume 172, Number 150 (Tuesday, September 22, 2026)] [Senate] [Page S4855] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] RECOGNIZING BETHESDA-CHEVY CHASE HIGH SCHOOL'S CENTENNIAL Mr. VAN HOLLEN. Mr. President, I rise today to recognize Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School as it celebrates its 100th anniversary and a century of academic excellence, innovation, and service to its students and community. For 100 years, Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School has stood as a beacon of academic excellence, innovation, and service to its students and the community. The school has played an important role in educating generations of students and creating a lasting sense of connection among students, families, educators, administrators, and alumni. As the proud parent of three B-CC alumni, I am especially grateful for this milestone, which provides an opportunity to reflect on the school's rich history and the countless individuals who have contributed to its legacy. To commemorate the centennial, the B-CC community will come together for a weekend of celebration, including a homecoming game, alumni gatherings, an open house, and the unveiling of its new museum, which highlights the school's history. The museum will feature exhibits celebrating B-CC's milestones over the past century, including a scene from ``The Betty Play,'' which tells the story of one of the first black students to integrate B-CC. I commend Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School on reaching this remarkable milestone and ask my colleagues to join me in expressing our best wishes for continued success to the students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the entire B-CC community. ____________________
