HER NAME WAS BREONNA TAYLOR

Congressional Record, Volume 171 Issue 45 (Tuesday, March 11, 2025) [Congressional Record Volume 171, Number 45 (Tuesday, March 11, 2025)] [House] [Page H1081] From the Congressional Record Online through the Government Publishing Office [ www.gpo.gov ] HER NAME WAS BREONNA TAYLOR (Mr. McGARVEY asked and was given permission to address the House for 1 minute and to revise and extend his remarks.) Mr. McGARVEY. Mr. Speaker, 5 years ago, a young Louisville woman was killed in the middle of the night by police officers who forced entry into her home without warning. Her name was Breonna Taylor. While we will never forget how Breonna Taylor died, we get to choose to remember how she lived. Breonna was a sister, a daughter, and a girlfriend. Breonna was a caregiver, working at Louisville's emergency room to save lives. Breonna was a 26-year-old with her whole life in front of her. She had dreams, including of becoming a mom someday. Breonna loved her family, her community, and more than anything, she loved life. In the face of injustice, we cannot be silent. We must speak up. We must say her name: Breonna Taylor. ____________________
