Rep. Haridopolos Leads Space Subcommittee Hearing on Future of ISS and Low Earth Orbit Kaley.Stidham@… Wed, 03/25/2026 - 16:35 Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Congressman Mike Haridopolos (FL-08), Chairman of the Space and Aeronautics Subcommittee, led a hearing titled “The Future of Low Earth Orbit: From the ISS to Commercial Platforms.” The hearing examined the future of the International Space Station (ISS), NASA’s transition to commercially operated space stations, and how the United States can maintain leadership in low Earth orbit as global competition intensifies. “Every day, vital research conducted on the ISS paves the way for future exploration of the Moon, Mars, and beyond,” said Congressman Haridopolos. “Over time, we learn more about the long-term effects of space on the human body, and we can test and improve the technologies that will enable deep space exploration. But the International Space Station is aging, and we must begin preparing for what comes next.” Watch his opening remarks here .
