Expressing support for the designation of May 2026 as "Necrotizing Fasciitis Awareness Month".

This resolution would officially recognize May 2026 as a month dedicated to raising awareness about necrotizing fasciitis, a rare but serious bacterial infection that can spread rapidly through tissue. The designation would encourage public education and discussion about this life-threatening condition, which can affect anyone but requires immediate medical attention and treatment. Healthcare providers, patients, and advocacy groups would use this month to inform the public about symptoms, prevention, and the importance of early diagnosis.

COPS Reauthorization Act of 2026

The legislation would extend federal funding for the COPS ON THE BEAT grant program, which provides money to local police departments to hire and train new officers. This program helps communities across the country strengthen their law enforcement by covering a portion of officer salaries and related costs, making it easier for smaller departments to expand their forces.

Gas Prices Relief Act of 2026

The federal government would temporarily stop collecting its tax on gasoline, which currently adds about 18 cents per gallon at the pump. This would lower gas prices for all drivers and consumers who buy goods transported by truck, though the savings would depend on how much of the tax cut gas stations pass along to customers. The proposal would reduce federal highway funding unless Congress found another way to pay for road and bridge maintenance.

To authorize the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to prioritize the award of certain housing grants to applicants located in, or serving, low-income communities.

The bill would allow the Housing and Urban Development Secretary to give priority to housing grants for organizations that are located in or help low-income communities. This means nonprofits, local governments, and other groups working to improve housing in poor neighborhoods would have a better chance of receiving federal funding. The change aims to direct more housing assistance directly to the communities that need it most.

Health Investment Zones Act of 2026

The bill would create special "health investment zones" in certain areas and likely offer tax breaks or incentives to encourage businesses and healthcare providers to invest in improving health services and infrastructure in those regions. This could help bring more doctors, hospitals, clinics, or medical facilities to underserved communities while giving companies tax advantages for participating. The proposal affects healthcare providers, businesses considering expansion, and residents in areas selected for these zones.

Ensuring Casualty Assistance for our Firefighters Act

This bill would ensure that firefighters and their families receive proper financial assistance and support services when firefighters are injured or killed in the line of duty. It likely establishes or improves programs that help cover medical expenses, lost wages, and other costs for affected families, as well as mental health and counseling services for surviving family members and fellow firefighters. The measure aims to provide a safety net for those who risk their lives protecting communities.

FREEDOM Act

Based on the broad committee referrals covering energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and natural resources, this bill likely addresses energy policy and production, possibly involving federal lands, renewable energy, or domestic energy development. The wide range of committees involved suggests it may touch on multiple aspects of energy policy from generation and transmission to environmental and land-use considerations. Without access to the bill's specific text, the exact provisions remain unclear, but the referral pattern indicates it's a comprehensive energy-related measure affecting energy companies, landowners, and potentially consumers.

End PG&E Lobbying Act

This bill would restrict Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), a major California utility, from spending money to influence government policy through lobbying activities. The measure targets a specific company rather than utilities broadly, likely in response to PG&E's role in major wildfires and concerns about how the company uses shareholder money for political influence. If passed, it would prevent PG&E from hiring lobbyists or funding political advocacy efforts while the company operates under bankruptcy or regulatory oversight.

Stop SCAMS Act

The bill aims to crack down on scams and fraud schemes that target consumers, likely by strengthening penalties for scammers, improving law enforcement tools to investigate fraud, and possibly requiring financial institutions to better protect customers from schemes. It would affect scam victims, banks and financial companies, and federal agencies responsible for catching fraudsters. The bill has been sent to multiple committees to review different aspects of fraud prevention and enforcement.

Launching X–Labs for Breakthrough Science Act

This bill would create new research centers called X-Labs designed to speed up scientific breakthroughs in health and related fields by giving researchers more freedom to pursue high-risk, high-reward projects outside traditional funding constraints. The labs would likely operate with less bureaucratic oversight than standard government research programs, allowing scientists to test bold ideas that might not get approved through conventional grant processes. This could affect medical researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and patients by potentially accelerating the development of new treatments and technologies.

Stop the Rate Hikes Act

This bill would likely limit or prevent utility companies from raising electricity and natural gas rates, or require them to justify rate increases to regulators before implementing them. The measure would affect both energy companies and the households and businesses that pay utility bills. The specific details of how rate increases would be restricted or reviewed depend on the bill's full text, which is currently under consideration by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.

Wildfire Emergency Preparedness Act of 2025

Wildfire Emergency Preparedness Act of 2025 This bill establishes grants, training, and interagency coordination for responding to wildfires and fires in the wildland-urban interface (WUI) (i.e., where undeveloped land or vegetation meets human infrastructure). It also requires measures for protecting the health of firefighters and emergency responders. The bill establishes an Under Secretary of Agriculture for Fire Coordination to manage coordination of government preparation and response to wildfires and WUI fires. Such office may award grants to fire departments and emergency medical services organizations for training firefighting personnel or obtaining personal protective equipment for responding to such fires. Also, the Forest Service must establish a national plan with guidelines for training structural (i.e., urban) firefighters to respond to wildfires and WUI fires. The Forest Service may provide grants to certain nonprofit organizations to carry out training programs pursuant to the plan. Upon request from agencies, the Department of Defense (DOD) may allow its firefighters to conduct operations or assist in responding to wildfires and WUI fires. Agencies must reimburse DOD for such services. Additionally, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health must perform research and development and report to Congress on protecting the respiratory health of firefighters and identifying certain hazardous substances in areas affected by wildfires and WUI fires. Also, task forces within the National Urban Search and Rescue Response System of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) must train each member in peer mental health support and include members who are mental health practitioners.

Safer Response Act of 2025

The bill would likely establish new safety standards or protocols for emergency response systems in healthcare settings, though the specific requirements would depend on the final legislation. It may affect hospitals, emergency medical services, and healthcare workers by setting rules for how they respond to certain medical situations or crises. The measure has been sent to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for review and consideration.

Retired Law Enforcement Officers Continuing Service Act

Retired police officers and federal law enforcement agents would be allowed to carry concealed firearms across state lines without needing separate permits in each state, similar to protections that currently exist for active-duty officers. The law would make it easier for former law enforcement to maintain their ability to carry weapons for personal protection after they leave their jobs. This primarily affects retired officers, their families, and the states that would need to recognize their credentials.

Golden Mussel Eradication and Control Act of 2025

The bill would authorize federal funding and programs to prevent the spread of golden mussels, an invasive species that damages water infrastructure and ecosystems by clogging pipes and attaching to boats and equipment. It would likely support efforts to detect, remove, and control these mussels in waterways across the country, protecting water systems, recreation areas, and natural habitats that are threatened by this pest. The legislation affects water utilities, boaters, landowners, and anyone who relies on clean water supplies or uses lakes and rivers.

Gas Prices Relief Act of 2025

This bill would likely reduce federal taxes or fees related to gasoline to help lower gas prices for consumers at the pump. The exact tax cuts or relief measures would need to be determined as the bill moves through Congress, but the goal is to make driving more affordable for American families and businesses that depend on fuel. The House Ways and Means Committee will review the proposal to decide whether to advance it.

Youth Workforce Readiness Act of 2025

This bill would likely create or expand programs to help young people develop job skills and prepare for employment, possibly through training partnerships between schools and businesses. It could affect students, job training providers, and employers by establishing new pathways for youth to gain work experience before or after high school. The specific details of which programs would be created or changed are still being determined as the bill moves through Congress.
