To amend the Public Health Service Act to reauthorize a grant program for addressing dental workforce needs.

The federal government would continue funding grants that help train more dentists and dental professionals in areas where they're needed most, such as rural communities and low-income neighborhoods that struggle to find dental care. These grants support dental schools, training programs, and initiatives to get dentists to work in underserved regions where people have difficulty accessing affordable dental services. The program aims to address the shortage of dental professionals across the country by making it easier for communities to build up their dental workforce.

Promoting Access to Broadband Act of 2026

The Federal Communications Commission would be required to create a grant program that gives money to states to help spread the word about the Lifeline program, which provides discounted phone and internet service to low-income Americans. States would use these grants to inform people who might qualify for the program but don't currently know about it. This would help more eligible low-income households access affordable telecommunications services.

FOOD for Health Act

The bill would likely establish or modify programs to improve access to nutritious food and promote public health through agricultural and food policy changes. It appears designed to address connections between food availability, nutrition, and health outcomes, potentially affecting farmers, food producers, consumers, and public health initiatives. The bill is currently being reviewed by committees that handle agriculture and health-related matters.

WELLS Act

I don't have enough information to write an accurate summary. The bill's title "WELLS Act" is too vague, and while it's been referred to health-related committees, the subjects listed only say "Health" without specifying what health policy the bill actually addresses. To provide a meaningful summary, I would need to know the bill's specific provisions—for example, whether it deals with insurance, prescription drugs, medical research, hospital regulations, or something else entirely.

To amend the Consumer Product Safety Act to remove the exclusion of pistols, revolvers, and other firearms from the definition of consumer product in order to permit the issuance of safety standards for such articles by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

This bill would allow the Consumer Product Safety Commission to set and enforce safety standards for firearms like pistols and revolvers, which are currently exempt from the agency's oversight. Gun manufacturers would need to comply with these safety standards, similar to how other consumer products are regulated. The change would give the federal government a new tool to address firearm safety issues, though it does not restrict who can own guns or how they can be used.

HR7500In Committee

Responsible Firearms Marketing Act

This bill would regulate how firearms and ammunition are marketed and advertised, likely restricting certain types of promotional tactics or requiring warnings similar to those on tobacco products. The rules would apply to gun manufacturers, dealers, and retailers who advertise their products to the public. The goal appears to be reducing marketing practices that might appeal to minors or encourage unsafe use.

SAFE Exit Act of 2026

The bill would establish new safety standards and requirements for emergency exits in transportation infrastructure and public buildings, making it easier for people to evacuate quickly during emergencies. It likely affects building owners, transportation operators, and safety inspectors who would need to comply with updated exit design rules. The measure aims to reduce injuries and deaths by ensuring exits are clearly marked, properly maintained, and accessible to everyone including people with disabilities.

HRES996In Committee

Impeaching Kristi Lynn Arnold Noem, Secretary of Homeland Security, for high crimes and misdemeanors.

This resolution would remove Kristi Noem from her position as Secretary of Homeland Security if approved by Congress, based on allegations of serious wrongdoing. The measure has been sent to the House Judiciary Committee for investigation and debate, where lawmakers would need to determine whether the charges warrant her removal from office. If the House votes to impeach and the Senate convicts her, she would be removed from her cabinet position.

Calumet National Heritage Area Act

This bill would establish a National Heritage Area in the Calumet region, likely in Indiana and Illinois, to preserve and promote the area's industrial, cultural, and natural history. The designation would allow the federal government to work with local communities, businesses, and organizations to protect important historical sites, support tourism, and manage natural resources in the region. Residents, historians, and local businesses in the Calumet area would benefit from increased funding and coordinated planning efforts to develop the region's heritage attractions.

CARE for Moms Act

The bill aims to improve healthcare and support services for mothers, likely addressing maternal health coverage, pregnancy-related care, and postpartum services. It would affect pregnant women, new mothers, and potentially their families, as well as healthcare providers and insurance companies that cover maternal care. The proposal is currently being reviewed by multiple congressional committees to determine which parts fall under their specific areas of responsibility.

Medical Nutrition Therapy Act of 2025

Medical Nutrition Therapy Act of 2025 This bill expands Medicare coverage of medical nutrition therapy services. Currently, Medicare covers such services for individuals with diabetes or kidney disease under certain circumstances; such services must also be provided by a registered dietitian or nutrition professional pursuant to a physician referral. The bill extends coverage to individuals with other diseases and conditions, including obesity, eating disorders, cancer, and HIV/AIDS; such services may also be referred by a physician assistant, nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, or (for eating disorders) a clinical psychologist.

Access to Birth Control Act

This bill would require health insurance plans to cover all FDA-approved contraceptive methods without requiring patients to pay out-of-pocket costs like copays or deductibles. It would affect millions of Americans with health insurance by ensuring they have affordable access to birth control options. The legislation has been referred to a House committee for review and debate.

Federal Firearm Licensee Act

Federal Firearm Licensee Act This bill establishes new security requirements and expands recordkeeping and reporting requirements for federally licensed dealers, importers, and manufacturers of firearms (i.e., federal firearms licensees, or FFLs). The bill also broadens the authority of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to administer federal firearms laws and enforce violations. Specifically, bill requires FFLs to implement and comply with a plan to secure their business premises, conduct quarterly physical checks of their business inventories, maintain video surveillance of the area where firearms are sold or transferred, and initiate firearms-related background checks for employees. Additionally, the bill requires FFLs to report to the ATF any inventory firearm that is lost, stolen, or unaccounted for and to notify the ATF about default-proceed transactions (i.e., allowable firearm transfers to an unlicensed person prior to the completion of a background check when the submitted background check remains incomplete after three business days). Finally, the bill removes limits on the ATF's authority to conduct activities related to the administration of federal firearms laws. It enhances the ATF's inspection authority, including by removing the limit on the number of annual compliance inspections (currently, one), requiring inspections of high-risk FFLs, and authorizing an additional 650 investigators. Finally, the bill directs the ATF to deny an application for a federal firearms license if it would endanger public safety or if the applicant is unlikely to comply with the law.

Helping to Encourage Real Opportunities (HERO) for Youth Act of 2025

This bill would likely create tax benefits or incentives aimed at helping young people, though the specific details aren't yet clear from the title alone. Based on its focus on taxation, it probably involves tax credits, deductions, or other financial breaks for youth-related activities or education. The bill is currently under review by the House committee that handles tax policy.

AID Youth Employment Act

This bill would create or expand job training and employment programs specifically designed to help young people find work and develop job skills. The legislation likely aims to connect youth—particularly those facing barriers to employment—with internships, apprenticeships, or other work opportunities, possibly through partnerships between schools, businesses, and government agencies. Young people seeking their first jobs and employers looking to hire entry-level workers would be the main groups affected.

Rural Obstetrics Readiness Act

Rural Obstetrics Readiness Act This bill creates and expands federal grant programs within the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to increase capacity to provide emergency obstetric health services in rural areas or areas without practitioners or facilities specializing in obstetric services. Specifically, HRSA must establish a program for providing grants to certain hospitals or consortiums that include hospitals in rural areas or areas with maternal health care professional shortages for training, developing a workforce, and purchasing equipment relating to obstetric emergencies. In addition, the bill requires HRSA’s Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health Capacity program to provide grants for training on emergency obstetric services for practitioners in rural health care facilities without dedicated obstetric units. HRSA must also establish a pilot program to provide grants to government entities for developing or improving telehealth access programs to support urgent maternal health care in rural facilities without a dedicated obstetric unit.

PREEMIE Reauthorization Act of 2025

PREEMIE Reauthorization Act of 2025 This bill reauthorizes through FY2029 and establishes actions by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to address preterm birth (i.e., babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy). Specifically, the bill reauthorizes epidemiological studies, data tracking, and prevention efforts conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention related to preterm birth. Also, the bill requires HHS to establish an interagency working group to improve federal coordination and provide recommendations on preventing preterm birth, infant mortality, and related adverse birth outcomes. Additionally, HHS must arrange for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to study preterm birth in the United States and report to HHS and Congress on certain aspects, including the financial costs and strategies to reduce the rate of preterm birth.
